YOTHU YINDI FOUNDATION AND SKY NEWS PARTNER FOR GARMA 2015
 

 

 

 
The Yothu Yindi Foundation and Sky News are please to announce a new partnership that will see the leading 24-hour multi-channel, multi-platform news service broadcast Garma 2015 on SKY NEWS LIVE and Australia's Public Affairs Channel, A-PAC.  
 
Bringing viewers closer than ever to the Indigenous policy debates and issues presented at Garma, SKY NEWS LIVE and A-PAC will feature LIVE and extended coverage of Key Forum discussion panels, moderated by SKY NEWS International Editor and Reporting LIVE anchor Stan Grant.
 
NT Bureau Chief and National Indigenous Affairs Correspondent Dan Bourchier will provide comprehensive news coverage from the Garma site in northeast Arnhem Land for SKY NEWS LIVE.
 
Yothu Yindi Foundation Chief Executive Officer Denise Bowden said the partnership with SKY NEWS would significantly expand Garma's reach.
 
"SKY NEW" has a reputation for setting the daily news agenda, so we are delighted that the Key Forum will be front and centre on SKY NEWS LIVE and Australia's only dedicated public affairs channel, A-PAC.
 
"This is such a fantastic opportunity to bring the Garma conversation to an audience that is engaged on issues such as land rights, economic development, education, and constitutional recognition," she said.

As part of the Garma Yothu Forum, SKY NEWS will take part in workshops, providing advice and training to 'roving reporter' on the Garma grounds.

A-PAC is available via Foxtel channel 648 and online at www.a-pac.tv A-PAC gives viewers access to a selection of Australia's largest public events and forums, providing a platform for discussion and debate.  Stories and video highlights will also be featured at www.skynews.com.au 
 
For international viewers, Garma 2015 coverage will be seen LIVE and on demand on Australia Channel www.australiachannel.com.au 
 
Garma 2015 will take place from 31 July - 3 August at Gulkula, a Yolngu ceremonial site in northeast Arnhem Land.
 
The theme for this year's event is Building Our Future, Strengthening Our Lives.

About Yothu Yindi Foundation
The Yothu Yindi Foundation was established in 1990 to promote Yolngu economic, social and cultural life in northeast Arnhem Land and throughout Australia.  YYF has hosted the annual Garma event since 1998.  YYF's mission is for Yolngu to have the same level of wellbeing and life opportunities as non-Indigenous Australians.  The Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable public benevolent institution, with an all-Yolngu Board of Directors.  YYF is chaired by Galarrwuy Yunupingu AM, who has played a leadership role in Australian life over 40 years.
