PRIVACY POLICY
In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" means the Yothu Yindi Foundation (ABN 28 221 722 606) of GPO Box 3234, Darwin NT 0801.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully as it applies to your use of this website. We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time by updating this posting. The revised Privacy Policy will take effect when it is posted.
1.1 Respecting your privacy
(a) We are committed to supporting the 'National Privacy Principles for the Fair Handling of Personal Information' (available at www.privacy.gov.au) which set clear standards for the collection, access, storage and use of personal information which we obtain as part of our operations.
(b) We have policies and procedures to ensure that all personal information, no matter how or where it is obtained, is handled sensitively, securely, and in accordance with the National Privacy Principles.
(c) This Privacy Policy sets out:
(i) matters of which you should be aware regarding information we may collect about you;
(ii) our policies on the management of personal information; and
(iii) what sort of information we hold, for what purposes, and how we collect, hold, use and disclose that information.
1.2 What personal information do we collect and store?
(a) So that we can provide goods and services to you, we may ask for personal details such as your name, address, telephone number, donation history, e-mail address and any communications you have with us, such as special requests, or requests for information. Some examples of where we may need these details are to:
(i) process and fulfil orders for merchandise and artwork;
(ii) process applications to attend the Garma Festival;
(iii) respond to your comments or questions;
(iv) process donations and provide receipts;
(v) maintain accurate details of our supporters' history with the organisation; and
(vi) keep you informed about our work.
(b) We do not collect information that we do not need. For example, we do not collect sensitive information (such as information about your health or political beliefs) because we do not need it in order to provide you with our goods or services.
(c) We take measures to ensure your personal information is protected from unauthorised access, loss, misuse, disclosure or alteration. We also take measures to destroy or permanently de-identify personal information when it is no longer required. The types of measures we take vary with the type of information, and how it is collected and stored.
(d) You have no obligation to provide any information requested by us. However, if you choose to withhold requested information, we may not be able to provide you with the goods and services that depend on the collection of that information, particularly if the collection of that information is required by law.
1.3 How is personal information used?
(a) We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to or with any other third parties.
(b) The personal information that we ask for is generally used to provide goods or services to you. For example, for a credit card transaction we need your card number, and for an application to attend the Garma Festival, we need your contact details so we can contact you if we require further information to process your application.
(c) We may also use your personal information to advise you of new projects, products and services. You have the right to tell us that you do not want us to send information to you other than for the main purpose for which we have collected your personal details.
(d) At times, we use external providers (such as Garma Festival volunteers) to help us process applications to attend the Garma Festival, process donations and to perform other functions relating to the Garma Festival and our organisation. Any personal information transferred between us and these external providers in such circumstances will be handled in accordance with the National Privacy Principles and this Privacy Policy.
(e) Personal information may also be collected from this website through automatic processes such as cookies. Most web browsers are set by default to accept cookies. However, if you do not wish to receive any cookies you may set your browser to either prompt or refuse cookies. Please note that rejecting cookies may mean that not all the functions on this website will be available to you.
(f) We may also disclose personal information to individuals, corporations, organisations or governmental authorities without your consent if we are required to do so by law, or if the disclosure is permitted under the Privacy Act 1998 (Cth).
1.4 Access to your personal information
(a) We will provide you with access to any of your personal information we hold (except in the limited circumstances recognised by privacy law).
(b) If you require access to your personal information, please email admin@garmafestival.com.au . Before we provide you with access to your personal information we will require some proof of identity. For most requests, your information will be provided free of charge, however, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request requires a substantial effort on our part.
(c) If you need to update your information (e.g.. if you change your address), please contact us so we can make the change. Our policy is to consider any requests for correction in a timely manner.
