Garma Festival of Traditional Cultures

Volunteering at Garma is no small project. Our volunteers make a significant contribution to the build, operation and spirit of the Festival. You will work alongside our skilled and motivated site crew, bringing the grounds of Gulkula to life. You must have a willingness to work hard, be a team player and 'go that extra mile' when necessary. Garma is a festival like no other - it is a unique experience that will live with you forever.

Volunteering at Garma is a 14-day commitment. Volunteers will assist the site crew in the bump in and out process, and during the festival days, you will be working in the support roles at the various stations on-site.

When you are on-site you will camp out, share meals with new friends, make new connections, build a festival and accomplish something truly life-changing for the Yolngu people of northeast Arnhem Land and for yourself.

You will have opportunities during the festival to participate in program activities. We have structured your volunteering days to ensure that you have ample time to experience the event.

There are numerous positions during the festival to be supported by volunteers, these roles include but not limited to:

  • Site crew
  • VIP & Corporate Liaison Support
  • Functions Support
  • Gapan Gallery Support
  • Cultural Activities Support
  • Concierge Support
  • Ticketing & Registration Support
  • Transport - drivers (C Class and LV)
  • Administration support based in the YYF Darwin office (Darwin applicants only)
